In his “youth” he was known as Olórin and became one of the Maiar who served Manwë, Varda, Irmo and Nienna named. At the beginning of Time, he was amongst the Ainur who entered into Eä.
The wisest of the Maiar, Gandalf was created by Ilúvatar before the Music of the Ainur. He was the greatest of the Ainur in authority, but not in power. The winds, airs and birds were his servants. Manwë Súlimo was the King of the Valar, husband of Varda Elentári, brother of the Dark Lord Melkor (Morgoth), and King of Arda.
